Mindful Monday: Do you like surprises?

I love surprises! Especially once-in-a-lifetime surprises, like the one I got to experience last week, when my sister Deb invited me to go see Elton John in Toronto for his final tour.

The concert was epic from start to finish! At 75, he rocked and so did his band. There were 50,00 people and yet it still felt so intimate.

It’s an experience I’ll never forget.

For me, Elton is an example of someone who expresses the uniqueness of his soul. He is iconic. His music, his flair, his costumes, his presence. There’s truly no one else like him.

It made me wonder…

Do I express myself authentically and freely?

Well, I do much more than I ever have. But no, not fully. I find myself holding hold back. There is still a part of me (the old conditioning) that wants to play it safe. You know, the Super Ego that says it’s better to play by the rule book.

I’ve connected with a lot of women over the years, and a common theme I‘ve heard over and over again, is the fear to be authentic and shine bright.

Interesting, right?

Thinking of this, I was reminded of this quote by Marianne Williamson:

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, 'Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?' Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”

Right now, it feels like there is a shift on our planet. It feels like our souls want to bust loose and be free.

Are you feeling it in yourself? This urge to be free or the irritation knowing you’re holding back?

A part of our soul is longing to express itself freely and another part says ‘no way’ and tries to keep us in the box of limitations and false ideas of what it means to be humble and play it safe.

The journey is to remember who we are.

To shine light on the darkness (unconscious) with sincerity, kindness and compassion.

To love ourselves.

We are all creative beings. We all have an inner child that longs to express ourselves in our own unique and beautiful way, but most of us have forgotten. We have lived in the confines of this old programming for so long it feels very familiar.

However, it comes at a cost. There is no room for presence and connection to the depth of our soul, and this creates an insatiable longing.

What would our world be like if more people reconnected to their reclaimed their truth, and lived their lives with authenticity?

Seeing Elton John last week nudged me to be who I am – the truest version.

Before the concert, the question “What’s on your bucket list?” flashed on the screen several times. This is something I am going to take some time and fun writing about and exploring. No limits. No restrictions or playing it safe.

What’s on your bucket list? What matters to your soul?

If you are feeling the desire or urge to live more authentically and connect to who you are, I invite you to join me for my weekend retreat, ‘Celebration of Self’ on May 5-7, 2023.

My retreats are always full so don’t be disappointed, Register Now. Let's celebrate together!

With love,
