Joseph Campbell coined the term The Hero’s Journey which examines the stages of the hero: set out on an adventure, face a crisis and win, then return victorious.
All of us have been on our own hero’s journey – more than once. Maybe you’re in the middle of one right now.
This may feel like a small reno or a complete upheaval. Regardless, it’s happening! Do you feel it within your soul? I sure do.
You’re not alone.
Many people are going through a transformation right now – to be reborn – free – connected to their true essence, and live a more authentic life.
Our soul is longing for change, and even though this is freedom, it can feel very threatening and unnerving to the ego.
Going through change is not always a smooth and comfortable path.
When we step into the arena of change there are so many unknowns; transformation and change isn’t straightforward. There can be twists and turns on the path. It can be confusing and messy, and it can also be incredibly beautiful and life-altering as we emerge on the other side.
The journey (whether reno or upheaval) can bring up discomfort, fear, sadness, anger, and resistance, leaving us feeling like we are broken and cracked wide open.
There have been many times in my life when I’ve felt broken on the outside; hopeless, weak, and scared that I would never be able to put all the pieces back together.
Moments when I wanted to stop and turn back, and dim the light because it feels like too much work. And yet, I keep going. There is no turning back.
But in hindsight, I have always made it through.
I now know when things fall apart it is an opportunity for growth. I’ve come to understand, I’m not putting the pieces back together.
The pieces are ego structures/conditioning. They are falling away to create space for the light of my soul to shine through. True Nature takes care of the details. My practice is to trust and allow.
“When an eggshell is cracked from the outside it is broken, when it’s cracked from the inside it is reborn.” ~ Ama
Our transformation and our approach may look different from those around us. That makes sense, being we are all unique individual souls.
Can we trust in ourselves and the journey we are walking?
Can we have compassion for the parts of ourselves that are suffering?
Listen and follow the wisdom that lies within. Trust the Universe is guiding us, even in those moments when we feel completely lost.
If the pieces feel like they are falling apart or away, they are ready to. It is a rebirth. A reunion with our true essence.
As we return to ourselves victorious, we will find ourselves feeling more whole and connected to our truth. Seeing ourselves, others, and the world through a very different lens.
Transformation has taken place.
This is the journey, and this is grace.
With love,
Diane
