Mindful Monday: YEE-HAW! Feeling that Spark
At the beginning of each year, I often create a vision board—not expecting everything to manifest exactly as I imagine, but as a way to reflect on what inspires me.
The process is more about creativity and intention, gathering words and images that resonate with my soul, crafting them into a personal work of art, and having fun.
A few days before a recent vision board workshop, I stopped by a Mission store to look for magazines. The first one I picked had a striking cover—a cowgirl on horseback. Without hesitation, I bought it.
For some time, I’ve been drawn to the idea of visiting a ranch out West, whether in Canada or the U.S., to ride horses and soak in the vast, open landscapes. The thought of experiencing life as a cowgirl, complete with learning to corral cattle, fills me with excitement.
I may go (I think I will!), but it doesn't matter. Whenever I look at my cowgirl, it puts a smile on my face.
Now that my vision board is complete, I love catching glimpses of it as I walk by. Being a visual person, seeing images that reflect my dreams and passions lifts my spirit. It reminds me how important it is to do things simply because they bring me joy.
Joy, creativity, and excitement come from within. They can be sparked by something we experience or arise spontaneously as an essential quality of our true nature.
When something inspires me, I like to note it. Whether it be a beautiful flower, a conversation, nature, or my work, I want to follow that spark.
It's about tuning into what my soul longs for and trusting the process.
When we can be present, let go of control, and surrender to the flow, life has a way of guiding us exactly where we need to be.
We no longer move through life on autopilot, passively waiting for something to change. Instead, we are engaged and actively participating, trusting in Divine guidance and wisdom, knowing that while we may not control the outcome, we can be co-pilots on this journey.
Sometimes, this feels effortless, while other times, I notice I want something to happen now, and that's ok. I get to observe the resistance.
I feel in flow when I am grounded in my body, and my mind is open and clear. Energy moves through me effortlessly. I am present, intentional, and fully engaged. This is when life becomes more aligned with my goals and desires, when I feel more at ease and a sense of steadiness and calm.
Living with intention is a game changer. It means we are here, significantly connected to ourselves and our lives.
It looks different for each of us—there is no one-size-fits-all approach, but a great place to start is turning inward and asking ourselves,
What is something that brings me joy?
What would it look like to live with more intention today?
And if you're uncertain, don't be discouraged. Sometimes, these sparks are more like whispers or gentle nudges than big "ah ha!" discoveries.
Give yourself a few moments to close your eyes and take three slow, intentional breaths. That's the perfect place to start.
Developing and maintaining a mindfulness practice is transformative and powerful. It can help us find those sparks of inspiration and joy, connect with our dreams and desires, and feel a sense of certainty that we're on the right path to reconnect with our true essence.
These motivations guided me to create Women Shining Bright, a nine-week program where we, as women, can come together and celebrate ourselves and one another. It is a sacred space where you can cultivate a deeper connection to your true self, the present moment, your body, your voice, and your dreams. To learn more or register, please visit me here.
I hope you’ll join me!
Love,
