We are mid way into September already! Gosh time flies.
For me, September has always felt like the beginning of the year much more than January. That first day back at school feeling has never gone away.
Having said that, this year is a different one for us, isn’t it?
There is so much uncertainty, new protocols to follow, and adults and children are being called to navigate these unchartered waters.
All this change and uncertainty may or may not feel overwhelming for you.
If you are finding it challenging, you might be noticing…
Your mind is busier
Your body is more stressed
You have become more reactive
You don’t feel grounded
You have lost touch with your inner knowing and sense of self.
There is hope.
It is possible to return to Self.
Remember: what we focus on grows.
Focusing on the outer chaos creates inner chaos.
It doesn’t mean we are denying what is going on.
For me, it means I value my peace. Therefore, I am choosing to take care of myself, stay grounded, and not get swept away in the chaos.
Going to the woods for a nature walk is my refuge.
When I am with nature, it is calming to my soul and reconnects me to my truth. I can breathe deeper, feel the earth beneath me, and soak in the beauty around me.
What else?
I take time every morning to meditate. This grounds me and sets the stage for my day. If there is chaos on the outside it helps me to stay anchored to the peace on the inside.
I stop and breathe during the day. Our breath is sacred. It brings us to the present moment and connects us to the stillness within.
This is simple and it works for me.
What works for you?
What I’m hearing from a lot of people, is that they’re making the choice to simplify their life right now wherever they can.
While we can’t control much of what is going on in the world, we can make simple choices that have a positive impact on our over-all well-being.
In times of such uncertainty, it is so important to do whatever we can to stay grounded in our body.
To stay CONNECTED to our truth.
To HONOUR ourselves for how we feel.
To LET GO of comparisons or the idea we should feel differently.
I do believe there is so much more at play here.
We are being called individually and collectively to shine light on the darkness. It’s time. The world is going through a dark night of the soul and people are going through their own transformations.
Whether it be connecting with nature, a Higher Power (whatever that may be for you), or having a like-minded support network, it is important to find comfort and solace.
So, although this September and back to school is different, perhaps we can be reminded to value our own personal peace, find connection, and comfort, and simplify where possible.
Wishing everyone all the best.
