Mindful Monday: Intention is powerful

I don’t know about you but going to the dentist has never been on the top of my list of favourite things to do. Childhood memories of the sound of the drill and the smells still linger in my subconscious.

But recently I had a positive experience that has really left a great impression.

My teeth were very well taken care of and I had meaningful connection and conversations over a few visits.

When I first arrived, the dental student was asking me questions about what I do for a living and when I said I help people to reduce their stress levels she shared very openly how much stress she was under, and how COVID was making the pressure worse. Her mind was always racing, and she had a hard time relaxing.

So, we both began sharing how we release the stress and find peace. She doesn’t have a lot of extra time in her day. She shared a simple way to bring positivity and focus from the very beginning of the day which I absolutely love.

Every morning she starts her day with a ritual that focuses her mind on gratitude and positivity.

What is her ritual?

It’s simple.

She holds her glass of water and before she drinks it, she says her positive affirmations out loud.

For example….
I am healthy. I am happy. I am peaceful.
I send love to every cell of my being.
Today is going to be an incredible day.
I am grateful for this water, my health, my breath, my life.
I open my heart to all goodness today.
I receive love and give love today.
I am blessed.
I am grateful for my health, love, joy and abundance.

After she says the positive affirmations out loud, she drinks the water and imagines the positivity going through the water to every cell of her being.

She says it really starts her day off on the right foot.

I love it.

The first thing I do in the morning is drink a big glass of water, so I was excited to bring more intention to this routine.

When I did this water exercise it reminded me of Dr. Emoto’s research he did with water.

Dr. Emoto wrote the New York Time’s bestseller, “The Hidden Messages in Water” and claimed that human consciousness could affect the molecular structure of water.

His work and studies showed water in crystal form and how the water was affected by certain words or feelings.

Negative or more destructive thoughts created very different crystals forming than the water that was sent thoughts of love, appreciation, and gratitude.

Human beings and the earth are almost 70% water so his ground breaking work had tremendous significance. His research implied we can improve both our environment and ourselves if we change our everyday attitudes, words, and consciousness.

So, this too has become my morning ritual. It is simple. It brings intention and meaning from the get go.

Every morning my intention is to fill every cell of my being with love, vitality, peace and gratitude. And so it is.

Where our intention goes energy flows.

Give it a try!
