Welcome to 2022. I’m deeply grateful to continue this journey with you.
So, what do you think? What can we expect this year?
Who knows, right? We can set intentions, have a game plan which is a nice idea, but there are no guarantees for what happens next.
How it all plays out is a mystery.
We never know.
Having said that, my relationship to the mystery is what I am most curious about right now.
I am noticing when I’m ok with the mystery I feel more present and relaxed. There is more space in my mind and my body. In that space there is nothing and there is everything. The not knowing is ok.
During the holidays I devoted more time for reflection and meditation. I savoured this opportunity to relax and be. It was heavenly.
I took time to reflect on the year that has passed; what I experienced, learned, the highs and lows, and where I wish to place my focus this coming year.
Every year brings something new. Some years it may feel like we are building, like things are expansive and new. While other years can feel like we are letting go or like nothing is happening at all.
For me, 2021 felt like a year of dissolving rather than building.
Dissolving and releasing ego structures, old beliefs, and concepts, and shining light on the darkness. And now, as the old structures have fallen away, it feels like time to build a new foundation. A solid foundation based on deeper truth, authenticity and who I really am.
As I reflect on last year, I can see the perfection of how everything unfolded. It wasn’t my plan, but it was the Universe’s plan.
“Life is what happens to you while you’re busy making other plans”
– John Lennon
This year, I wonder if there can be space for our desires or intentions and also space for letting go of the attachment of how things will play out.
What if we…
Let go of striving and create space for trust and allowing
Get to know ourselves in a real and authentic way
Practice being the observer, being in the world but not of the world
This year my intention is to deepen my connection to Self. To continue cultivating self-love and awareness and live and share from this place of deeper truth and authenticity.
Our capacity to be more in the now, to trust and deepen our connection to Self comes from being consistent and staying the course. It’s not for the faint of heart. It is the journey of a spiritual warrior.
No one said it is easy. But it is worth it.
Our trust might waiver and that’s ok. We can always direct our focus inward and be with the part that is uncertain. There is no right or wrong. There is no perfect. We will fall and then we will pick ourselves up again and again and again.
As Brene Brown says, ‘we are perfectly imperfect’.
My proposition is this, what would happen if we valued ‘being’ as much as we value ‘doing’.
From this place of presence and clarity we listen, we are guided, we are in flow. Our inspiration and passion is unearthed as we become more aligned with our soul’s purpose rather than our ego’s agenda.
Practicing being in the world doesn't mean we sit on the couch and do nothing.
On the contrary.
It means we are committing to being engaged in the moment and in our life rather than living on autopilot.
We are choosing to live in the now. It is a moment-to-moment practice.
We are living with integrity.
We are becoming more attuned.
Our inner compass guides us and lets us know when we are on course and also shows us when we have wandered away from our truth.
So we listen, we feel and we get to know ourselves intimately.
What do you desire? Get close to it. Feel it. Align your life with it, and courageously explore the mystery of who you are and the mystery of life itself.
If you feel inspired to bring in the New Year with meaning and intention please join me on Thursday, January 20th as we gather online to Welcome the New Year with openness and intention.
