Mindful Monday: What are YOU doing?

I recently listened to spiritual teacher Matt Kahn speak, and he said something so refreshing that I wanted to share it with you.

He shared that one of the most important questions to ask ourselves is,

"What am I doing right?"

I love this!

We often get caught up in 'What I am doing wrong?' or 'What do I need to fix?' But 'What am I doing right?" is a kind and loving gesture to offer ourselves.

So, what are you doing right?

Well, you are breathing.

There is an inhale and an exhale.

And you are doing it beautifully.

You are here.

You are you.

Take a moment and give yourself the credit.

When we take this time to acknowledge and honour ourselves in really simple ways, we are cultivating self-love. It helps us reclaim our power and feel safe in our bodies and life. We are re-wiring our consciousness.

As we observe the ego, we integrate the ego. The ego might counter what we say, but that's ok; this is the ego's job. We can observe any pushback and focus on what we are doing right.

We may have been taught not to be too big or boastful as children. Maybe someone told us to tone it down or to achieve certain things to receive love or recognition. As a result, we have become perfectionists or overachievers. Our Inner Child is still looking for love on the outside.

As adults, we are in charge and can support and love our Inner Child, turning inward instead.

We do not have to tone it down. When we set aside the assumption that we need to be bigger, brighter, or different to thrive and be worthy of love and happiness, we can relax and be who we are.

What does it feel like to say this out loud….

"I have a right to feel good about myself."

Do you feel good? Do you feel open or rigid? Do you feel silly?

Just notice what's here. It's all perfect.

We are acknowledging our presence right here and now.

We don't have to go dumpster diving to find something to fix about ourselves.

We can acknowledge our soul in its unique expression of the Divine.

Our practice is being here in the now, noticing, and being curious about what is real.

Can something this simple make a difference? Absolutely it can.

Keeping it simple is what creates change.

When we wait for something big to happen, some significant change or fix - we will always be waiting for that future moment. What part do you think wants and drives this? It's the ego.

So, we practice in really simple ways, and even if we find ourselves not getting something right, that's ok. We are having an experience and a new awareness.

Today, please take some time to reflect on the question, what am I doing right? And if you are inclined, feel free to email me and share your answers!

No need to hide. Own it. Claim it. Please share it.

This is not arrogant. Self-love is Self-less.  With love,

Diane
