For me, the morning is a powerful time to connect to myself and the present moment, to set my intentions, and set the stage for my day.
Our mind is most open to new impressions first thing in the morning. We dial into a higher frequency, and by being present with ourselves, we are planting seeds of positivity and shifting consciousness one thought at a time.
When we begin our days this way, we can avoid falling into the trap of living on autopilot. For many people, it is routine to wake up, check our phones, start the mental checklist of what needs to happen that day, and rev up our nervous systems.
Instead, when we wake and give ourselves just a few minutes of connection, we practice living in the moment with meaning and purpose.
So why not find ways that we enjoy and have fun with? No need to feel like it’s another thing “to do” in your day.
Keep it simple and experiment with what enlivens your soul in some way.
My morning walks provide this for me.
There is a quietness in the air, and as I walk, I focus on what I’m grateful for and what my intention is for the day.
It could be something like, ‘I am allowing goodness to flow into my life today with ease and grace.’ Or ‘I choose to love and appreciate my body today.’ Walking, I think, ‘I am grateful for the sky, my strong legs, the fresh air, my breath.’ It feels good, and I can feel the impact on my nervous system.
I love what Wayne Dyer says about having intentions of kindness:
“Extend thoughts of kindness everywhere. Practice kindness toward Earth by picking up a piece of litter that’s on your path, or saying a silent prayer of gratitude for the existence of rain, the color of flowers, or even the paper you hold in your hand that was donated by a tree. The universe responds in kind to what you elect to radiate outward. If you say with kindness in your voice and in your heart, “How may I serve you?” the universe’s response will be, “How may I serve you as well?” It’s attractor energy. It’s this spirit of cooperation with all of life that emerges from the essence of intention. And this spirit of kindness is one that you must learn to match if connecting back to intention is your desire.”
How beautiful is that? The essence of intention.
You may remember I shared with you how my dentist started her day.
Every morning she begins with a ritual that focuses her mind on gratitude and positivity.
What is her ritual? It’s simple.
She holds her glass of water, and before she drinks it, she says her positive affirmations.
For example...
I am healthy. I am happy. I am peaceful.
I send love to every cell of my being.
Today is going to be an incredible day.
I am grateful for this water, my health, my breath, my life.
I open my heart to all good today.
I receive love and give love today.
I am blessed beyond my wildest dreams.
After she says the positive affirmations, she drinks the water and imagines the positivity going through the water to every cell of her being.
She says it really starts her day off on the right foot.
I love it! So, I have started to do this again in the morning, and as I drink my water during the day, I say a positive affirmation.
It’s simple, feels good, brings intention and meaning to the moment, and sets a positive mindset for the day ahead.
What is your intention for today?
With love,
Diane
